Our Mission Statement
'To create a happy and safe learning environment which inspires, educates and makes a difference to every child.'
CARE FOR YOURSELF, CARE FOR EACH OTHER, CARE FOR YOUR SCHOOL, ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST

The history of our school
Dovery Down Lower School is a small school set in our own woodland in Leighton Buzzard. We cater for 3-9 year olds.
We provide a safe, friendly and caring environment where children can be happy. They develop a love of learning and they can achieve their best.

Where does the name Dovery Down come from?
Before the school was built, there was a private house on this site. The house was called ‘Dovery Down’ and the school was named after it.
The name ‘Dovery’ is an early version of what is now ‘Doverhay’. Doverhay Down is the name of a hill near the village of Porlock in the Exmoor National Park. Perhaps the family who built the house had connections with West Somerset or perhaps they took their holidays there.
